Launching the Parish Pastoral Council

posted Jan 31, 2015, 2:57 PM by Bohernabreena Parish Administrator   [ updated Jan 31, 2015, 2:58 PM ]
The Pastoral Council has been in formation for the past year, and will be commissioned on Saturday 7th Feb at 6pm Mass in Holy Rosary, and Sunday 8th Feb at 11.30 Mass in St Anne’s. We have been through challenges and difficulties, and thank you for your patience as you waited to get to this point. Although it’s not easy for a parish to be without a pastoral council, there has been great cooperation in its absence, and people have pulled together, testament to the strong community that exists already. We believe our team building during the last year will stand to us in the three years ahead as we serve the parish of Bohernabreena, in the two communities of St Anne’s and Holy Rosary.

The Parish Pastoral Council elected the officers and the team stands as follows: Fr Michael Hurley (President), Cormac Quinn (Chairperson), Thomas Lynch (Vice Chairperson), Amanda West (Secretary), Roisin Alexander-Pye (Vice-Secretary), Martin Donaghy, Paul Doyle, Mairead Flanagan, Jim Golden, Michael Quinn, St Mary FCJ, Fr Piaras MacLochlainn, Breda Carroll and Fr Jose Bharanikulangara. We keep Sr Mary in our prayers as she will not be able to join us during her recuperation.

We’re looking forward to serving the community and using our gifts to work together to make our churches places where all are welcomed, where the sacraments and Mass are celebrated together and take us further on our faith journeys. Your input and feedback is very welcome, as although our remit as a pastoral council is focused on the spiritual and pastoral aspects of parish life, if practical problems are blocking this we need to consider it with the parish team. Please join us for this commissioning ceremony at Holy Rosary or St Annes’s and all are welcome for refreshments afterwards.
