Farewell Fr David!
Earlier this week I received a letter from the Archbishop appointing me as parish priest to Rathmines parish, with effect from September 7th 2013.  As a result of this I will cease to be Parish Priest here in Bohernabreena.
It has been a great pleasure to serve the parish and the community. Not least I have enjoyed the variety of work over the last six years.  I thank you all for the friendship and support. I am deeply conscious of the great work done by the parish team and the many parish volunteers. Whatever small part I contributed in that was returned a hundredfold.
I love my work and am happiest serving the Lord. I will miss the school children and the pastoral care to the sick. I cannot help but think about the many good friends that were taken into God’s care in recent months and I can’t help wondering if they are watching over us all now. I pray for them and their loved ones who achingly miss them. My thoughts are also with you if you are in poor health and I pray you will all be back to good health in the very near future. I also loved the mix of cultures that bring diversity to our parish and unity to our worship. Such gracious people one and all.
It has been a pleasure to live and work among you and to serve you. I did my best with the needs of our parish grouping, amidst it’s 3 churches and 6 schools as well as the demands of facilitating the meeting of the 10 parishes of the deanery through the role of VF. So I wish you every blessing now and into the future. Pray for me.
Pope Francis was recently asked how he was doing, in relation to his surprise election, he said, “I am ok, I have not lost my inner peace, I have not lost any sleep over a surprising event like the one which happened to me. And I consider this a gift from God.”  I too am at peace.
Our time together has been God’s gift and one I am deeply grateful for - from my heart I say to each of you - ‘Thank You’.
Fr David P.P.
